What the bearing consists of
The rubber provides horizontal flexibility, the steel plates provide vertical stiffness, and the lead core absorbs energy.
Isolation and damping in one device
Rubber layers separated by steel reinforcing plates give the bearing high vertical and low horizontal stiffness. The building's natural period increases and moves out of the range of dominant periods of seismic excitation.
In shear, the lead core deforms plastically and dissipates energy. This reduces displacements in the isolation layer.
Where LRB bearings are used
Schools and kindergartens
Social facilities with stricter requirements for people's safety.
Hospitals
Buildings that must remain operational after an earthquake.
Residential complexes
Multi-storey residential buildings in high-seismicity areas.
Strengthening and reconstruction
Seismic isolation retrofit of existing buildings based on a separate analysis.

Key bearing parameters
Values are determined for the specific building from the structural model and the input data. There is no universal selection table.
| Parameter | Symbol | Unit | Value |
|---|---|---|---|
| Design vertical load | P | kN | per project |
| Design displacement | D | mm | per project |
| Effective horizontal stiffness | Keff | kN/mm | per project |
| Equivalent damping | ξeff | % | per project |
| Characteristic strength | Qd | kN | per project |
| Post-yield stiffness | K2 | kN/mm | per project |
| Diameter × height | Ø × H | mm | per catalogue |

Request documentsFrequently asked questions about LRB bearings
How are LRB bearing parameters selected?
From the building's structural model: it provides the vertical loads on the bearings, the target period and the allowable displacements. Preliminary parameters are agreed with the designer and the manufacturer.
What data is needed for preliminary selection?
General information about the building, architectural and structural drawings, geotechnical data, loads and, if available, an ETABS or LIRA-SAPR model.
How does LRB differ from HDRB?
In an LRB, energy is dissipated by the lead core; in an HDRB, by the high-damping rubber compound. The choice depends on the required properties and the analysis results.
How much do LRB bearings cost?
The cost depends on the number and parameters of the bearings and is determined after preliminary selection. We do not publish fixed prices.
