Why schools and kindergartens need special protection
Schools and kindergartens hold many children at the same time who cannot evacuate quickly and on their own. That is why such buildings are subject to stricter seismic resistance requirements.
Seismic isolation decouples the superstructure from ground motion: floor accelerations decrease, structural members carry lower forces, and partitions, equipment and escape routes suffer less damage.
Whether seismic isolation is appropriate is determined by analysis and a technical and economic comparison with conventional seismic protection — for the specific site, soils and structural system.
Workflow and responsibilities
| № | Stage | Seismic Dynamics | Designer | Manufacturer |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 01 | Input data | List, completeness check | Drawings, loads, geology | — |
| 02 | Structural model | Model review or development | Agreement on assumptions | — |
| 03 | Preliminary selection | Bearing type and parameters | Check within the design | Confirmation of manufacturability |
| 04 | Parameter approval | Data sheets, explanations | Approval in the design | Technical proposal |
| 05 | Supply and installation | Supply, installation support | Designer's field supervision | Manufacturing, testing |
What is needed to start
The more complete the data, the more accurate the preliminary solution. We will clarify anything missing during the first discussion.
Submit input data- Purpose, city, number of storeys, stage
- Architectural and structural drawings (DWG, PDF or IFC)
- Geotechnical survey
- Design accelerations, spectra
- Loads and load combinations
- ETABS or LIRA-SAPR model — if available
Designing a school or kindergarten?
Attach the model or drawings — we will prepare a preliminary seismic isolation solution.
